Wind and Weather

The wind blows almost always side-onshore from left on our beach (from north-north-westerly direction). It comes directly and unturbulenced from the Red Sea and is therefore very constant. There are no building in the way like on other spots which turbulence the wind and make it gusty.

Because of a micro climate we usually have much more wind than forecasted in the normal weather forecasts. With our more than 5 years of experience we can clearly say, that Windguru is the most accurate forecast for El Goauna. The "modified wind" or rather the "gusts" forecast the real wind here at the spot.

During the winter months (December to February) the wind is not as constant as in the other months of the year.We get more strong wind and light wind days. The temperatures are still summerly though - like in the summer in Norther Europe.

Based on thousands of measured values from our weather station we could calculate the following wind likelyhoods (click here for more detailed values):

Tides

The tides are not very strong in the Red Sea (20cm - 70cm). However we can feel this difference especially in the shallow lagoon.

In general the water level is slightly higher during winter compared to the summer. Because of that one can always kitesurf safely inside the lagoon during winter. In summer though - especially around full moon - it happens that the tide is so low that the lagoon falls dry for some hours. During these hours kitesurfing is only possible in the deep water - which is acually no problem as our rescue boat is there in case you should have a problem in the deep water.

Our tidal calendar contains all details.
